WriteAmp privacy policy: how your writing stays on your Mac, what network access is used for, and what this website collects. Last updated: July 2026. WriteAmp is built by DataDab LLP. Questions: [email protected].

The app: your writing stays on your Mac

WriteAmp makes suggestions on your Mac. Nothing goes to a cloud. Not via the built-in local engine, not via the Apple Intelligence path on macOS 26+. Both run on-device. Your text stays where you typed it.

  • Writing history, samples of text you type are stored in an encrypted database in your Mac's Application Support folder, with the key in your Keychain. You can inspect, pause, or wipe it in Settings → Apps & Personalization. It is never uploaded.
  • Clipboard context, the latest copied text may be used as completion context for up to 60 seconds, held in memory only. There is no clipboard archive. Optional paste summaries are a separate opt-in.
  • Screen Context, the macOS permission labelled "Screen Recording" is used to locate the caret in canvas-rendered fields (Google Docs, Notion, Figma text). It is processed on-device with Apple Vision OCR; nothing is recorded or uploaded.
  • Usage telemetry, completion acceptance statistics are stored locally on your Mac and shown to you in Settings. The app contains no analytics SDK and sends no usage telemetry to us.

The app's network use

The app uses the network only for: downloading local model files, Sparkle update checks (which report app version, macOS version, and locale to our update feed), and validating your Lemon Squeezy license key at activation and on a periodic re-check. Your writing content is never part of these requests.

This website

  • Plausible Analytics, writeamp.site uses Plausible, a privacy-friendly analytics service that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data, to measure aggregate page views and button clicks.
  • Attribution cookie, when you arrive via a link with UTM parameters (for example from a Product Hunt or social post), the site stores those parameters in a first-party cookie for up to 30 days so we can tell which channels lead to purchases. It contains campaign labels only, no personal data, and is sent to Lemon Squeezy as order metadata if you buy.
  • Purchases, payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy collects the billing details required for the transaction under its own privacy policy; we receive your email address, order details, and any UTM metadata for license delivery and support.
  • Email, if you write to us, we keep the correspondence to answer you. We do not run a marketing list without your explicit sign-up.

Your choices

Delete the app’s data anytime from Settings. Or just trash ~/Library/Application Support/WriteAmpTyping if you like doing it by hand. Clear the site’s attribution cookie from your browser. Want us to delete purchase records we hold? Email [email protected]. Note: Lemon Squeezy keeps its own transaction records for tax. We can’t delete those.
